Between Regions and Objects - Surfaces and Volumes

چکیده
Several modular processes are used to b u i l d r e l a t i o n s h i p s between a) two-dimensional regions and boundaries in a segmented image, and b) the hypothesized sur faces, volumes and ob jec ts of a three-dimensional wo r ld . A v a r i e t y of bottom-up and top-down s t ra teg ies coordinate the processes of SHAPE, PERSPECTIVE, SHADOW, and OCCLUSION to const ruct these r e l a t i onsh ips in the VISIONS system.

Implicit Blending Revisited
Blending is both the strength and the weakness of functionally based implicit surfaces (such as F-reps or softobjects). While it gives them the unique ability to smoothly merge into a single, arbitrary shape, it makes implicit modelling hard to control since implicit surfaces blend at a distance, in a way that heavily depends on the slope of the field functions that define them. This paper pres...
متن کاملبررسی شوره زنی اثار سفالی بدست امده از حفاریهای باستان شناسی
EfIloresce means formation or crystals or whitish deposits on the surfaces of objer.:ls. The appeflrance of these crystals are due to the type ot" <lrt works, pigment, binding factor used, conselVation treatments and the environment in which the objects arc kept. In order to study the components of eftlorescence and the reasons for thier formation, samples were collected from the sedimenl...
متن کاملEstimating Solar Radiation and Developing Iran’s Atlas Map of Optimum Monthly Tilt Angle (TECHNICAL NOTE)
Iran has great potential in utilizing solar energy. In order to maximize the amount of absorbed solar radiation to absorber surfaces, the surfaces should be installed at a suitable angle slope to the horizon that is discussed in this article. The calculations performed in this study was done using MATLAB software. In this study, radiation received on the ground in 31 provincial capitals of the ...
متن کاملThe role of surface-based representations of shape in visual object recognition.
This study contrasted the role of surfaces and volumetric shape primitives in three-dimensional object recognition. Observers (N = 50) matched subsets of closed contour fragments, surfaces, or volumetric parts to whole novel objects during a whole-part matching task. Three factors were further manipulated: part viewpoint (either same or different between component parts and whole objects), surf...
متن کاملInteractive segmentation of image volumes with Live Surface
Live Surface allows users to segment and render complex surfaces from 3D image volumes at interactive (sub-second) rates using a novel, cascading graph cut (CGC). Live Surface consists of two phases. (1) Preprocessing for generation of a complete 3D hierarchy of tobogganed regions followed by tracking of all region surfaces. (2) User interaction in which, with each mouse movement, the volume is...
